HAWAIIBIG ISLAND
Imagine standing on a majestic coastline of midnight black. Before you, sunlight glitters on the deep blue Pacific Ocean. At your back, the snow-capped summit of Maunakea, the world's tallest seamount. Welcome to Hawaii Island, where adventures are as vast and varied as the island itself. In the protected waters of Honaunau Bay, painted fishes greet snorkelers like rainbow confetti. A glance across the bay piques your curiosity, inviting you to Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, a sacred place of refuge. Or perhaps you'll follow the honu, Hawaii's endangered green sea turtles, and bask on the black-jeweled sand of Punaluu Beach. Take a stroll in the petroglyph fields at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and explore generations of stories carved into the lava. And as the sun melts below the horizon, follow the glow to Halemaumau Crater where Pele commands a show of red and gold under a diamond-strewn sky. These are just a handful of moments you'll discover on Hawaii Island. |
Being a Hawaii specialist, I have the resources and experience to
plan a custom itinerary for you. Whether you want a cruise in order to
see as many of the beautiful islands as possible, or stay on one island
and do day trips to other selected islands, I can plan a trip to fulfill
whatever you are looking for. Planned excursions like helicopter rides
or whale-watching boat rides, or just renting a car and taking off on
your own, are excellent ways to see the islands, and I can put together
an itinerary that will do all the things you want.
BIG WAVE WATCHING From November to February, Oahu's North Shore waves average heights of 16 feet. For about 20 days during this peak season, waves swell to 36 to 50 feet in size. On occasion, winter waves have topped 100 feet. It's awe-inspiring to watch, but surfing these massive waves is best left to the pros. |
